According to the CNP presentation 17/12/07, CER is 25% owned by CNP. A further 26% of CER is owned by DPF/DPFI which are majority owned by CNP.
In effect, CNP has direct or indirect interest in 51% of CER, which means they have a real interest in it staying alive.
I seem to recall seeing that large chunks of CER's debt is secured on properties. It could be that everyone has finally realised that if the bankers want their money back and CER can't pay, they can take the properties instead.
