Yeah it sucks SSkim but I think the industrial model of agriculture was always going to have to face its nemisis - its dependence on oil. There are going to be a lot of folk going without food in the third world if this goes through because farmers will back away from the high output production systems ...
It takes the energy equivalent from 150L of oil just to nitrogen fertilizer one hectare of wheat! That fact scared the bejeebers out of me when I came across it ...
As one of the original bulls on food, I see a less certain path forward to tidy profits for those on the land.
