    farmers have always faced the cost price squeeze, its part and parcel of life on the land, despite short term aberrations it will go on forever.

    i see this as the cold, hard reality, but i'm not pessimistic, its just something we have to work with. i don't think it pays to rely on prices entering a long term uptrend, history tells me it won't happen so it comes down to this, lower your cost of production or get out.

    the path toward tidy profits is to grow grain cheaper than anyone else.
