BEIJING (Metal-Pages) 15-Jul-13. China’s cerium carbonate export prices have held steady during the past couple of weeks with some growth in demand from overseas buyers. Chinese suppliers are maintaining stable quotes on support from production costs.
Cerium carbonate is mainly applied in making auto catalyst and glass, and also as a raw material for producing other cerium compounds.
Market sources said that prices for cerium carbonate have been holding at about $5/kg, little changed over the past few weeks.
A source at a southern exporter said that overseas buyers are still able to accept export prices of about $5.0/kg for the carbonate.
“Lower prices of around $4.8-4.9/kg will also be accepted for larger buying amounts,” an official at the southern company said.
Meanwhile, a source at a northern exporter said that cerium carbonate export prices have been holding at about $5/kg, similar to prices seen in late June.
As reported by Metal-Pages, China’s exports of cerium carbonate increased to 1,172,100 kgs in the first five months of 2013, up 36.43% compared with the same months of 2012, according to official customs data.
In May, exports of cerium carbonate were up 11.98% to 219,500 kgs compared with the same months of 2012, while the export value was $2,400,396, down 62.52%.
