ISO9001 is the base requirement in Australia because we do barely any aerospace work. AS9100 is more expensive, and harder to achieve. I have worked for and with numerous defence organisations, including BAE Systems, and the way they approve a new supplier addition to their procurement database is by getting them to essentially tick off a checklist of core criteria, stuff like modern slavery practices, professional indemnity insurance, etc. And ISO 9001 certification is one of these. I can tell you that BAE Systems themselves only hold ISO 9001 certification.
