Procter & Gamble Co. plans to unveil new products during the company’s first appearance as a participant in the annual Consumer Electronics Show next week in Las Vegas.
Also known as CES, the event provides a global stage to show off innovation. More than 4,400 companies are expected to participate, including tech giants such as Google.
Produced by the Consumer Technology Association, the show will run Jan. 8-11 and is expected to post attendance of 182,000.
The Cincinnati-based maker of consumer goods (NYSE: PG) will demonstrate “connected and powered products” now in market as well as debut new ones that haven’t been seen before.
“Forces such as connectivity and personalization have changed the way consumers interact with nearly every product and service on the planet, and consumer packaged goods are no different,” P&G stated. “At CES, you’ll see how P&G is addressing shifting consumer desires, using technology to transform every aspect of the experience with our products.”
For example, P&G will highlight Airia, a connected air freshener that can distribute custom levels of scent throughout the home. The rechargeable device can be managed through a smartphone app.
Also on display will be the new Gillette Heated Razor. I previously reported that it features a warming bar that heats up in less than one second, delivering the pleasure of a hot towel shave with every stroke, according to P&G. It’s expected to be widely available for sale in May.
The P&G booth at CES will also demonstrate the Olay Skin Advisor, an online beauty tool that uses artificial intelligence to analyze selfies and make custom skin care recommendations.
In addition, P&G will show off the SK-II Future X Smart Store, a traveling learning lab and pop-up store intended to transform beauty retail with state-of-the-art facial recognition, smart sensors and computer vision technology to provide next-generation smart skin care counseling.
More than 71,000 senior executives from companies in 160 countries or territories around the world are expected to attend this year’s CES along with more than 6,600 members of the media. News coverage of the event could help drive sales of new products.
