I'm not up to speed on the patent side of things (or this thread given I'm on holiday) but from an accountants perspective if I may, I worked with farmers having started my career in the regional office of a mid tier firm.

None of the farming clients used cloud based accounting systems. The reason for this was poor internet connections and therefore unreliability.

Those clients used decade old desktop systems in which they'd literally post a USB to you with their accounting file backed up to do year end work while the rest of the world enjoyed automated bank feeds etc.

If John Deere and the like invest any of their R&D in tech that requires cloud connectivity they've missed a trick.

An autonomous header that does not require cloud connection would disrupt the entire industry.
