It's ok to have a FHB grant on a newly constructed home imo. It provides incentives for all stakeholders involved to construct new homes (i.e. increase supply) which would actually increase affordability.
We should go further and only allow negative gearing for newly constructed homes aswell.
It ensures the extra incentives are only around if the supply of housing stock is actually increased.
