Hi Im also new and burnt my fingers a bit shorting Westpac, Index, Westfarmers and telstra. You can certainly go down fast and need plenty of cash OR be ready to stop loss (assuming there are takers!).
Watch for divvy payouts eg woodside could have burnt you.
