the_saint your not going to get better stop loss then macas, in fact I would recommended you never even get close to putting your stops 1% away as on a CFD trade your just going to get whipsawed all day long.
I use cmc, you can do 2 types of stop loss orders, the first is your normal one that you can basically place it where ever you want, and the second is the guaranteed one, this is 5% away. Hardly ever will your guaranteed on be needed.
I may recommend you check out CMC, I know IG charge are fortune in fees.... With CMC its $10 commission for a stock trade and commission free for everything else.
