CFD is a leveraged financial product, it is a bit like using borrowed money to trade, except in the case of CFD you don't have to actually borrow the money, a CFD product already has the "borrowing" built into its product.
Trading CFD (long or short) is no different to trading shares, you will basically be trading, i.e. trying to capture the price movements to make a profit. You can use the method you currently use to trade shares to trade CFDs, except that you got to be mindful that CFD is a leveraged financial product, the loss or profit is magnified because of the leverage.
