    Scott,
I think people should be able to choose to join a union or not and still be able to work on any site.

I have seen a car park beating. It was in a steelworks car park in the 1970s. To my shame me and most others we stood in a big circle and watched two burly, North English, shop stewards beat a man up and reduced him to tears. We just shuffled our feet.

I knew the man who was beaten. He had escaped from Eastern Europe and wanted no part of socialism or unionism. He just wanted to do his simple job.

This violence is still occurring. Closed shops are not enforced by poetry. Thats why the CFMEU need bikies as enforcers.

What I have seen is the basis of my dislike of compulsory unionism.

    bacci
