Hopefully, the regulators realise that what they are doing is very very sensitive. In other words, if they are perceived to be overdoing it, the effect will be exactly opposite to their intention.

Eg. any suggestion of bans on pretty much anything, tends to cause a run as people buy and accumulate.

Regulation should remain exactly that. Any attempt to regulate beyond what the public beleive is reasonable will simply drive the problems underground, where they can't be regulated.
