Interesting bit of conjecture over on the WGX message board that the Standstill deal that WGX and RMS signed last year (running to November his year) might have also applied to both companies taking positions in SPR (I.e prevented it from happening until the end of the period).
Pure speculation, of course, but I can understand why either side wouldn’t want the other assembling a blocking stake in Spartan whilst the two talked about a merger themselves.
It would be one way of explaining the apparent lack of interest from WGX and RMS in getting any kind of position on the Spartan register….
