    A company cannot legally sit on announcements due to the requirement for continuous disclosure...

    There is the grey area where a contract is being finalised, they could 'dilly dally' about for a few days to a week, but if news got out, they would then need to state officially that it is not finalised, and/or risk committing perjury.
