The other macro matter the government has to contend with is people retiring with mortgages and using super to pay down debt and then turning to the pension. The principal home exemption will probably stay as its political poison to attempt change but an upper limit will be applied to exemption value. That means people will be better off downsizing, paying mortgage off, and using tax free income stream. The super funds are also all showing signs that they support progressive drawdown incentives....better for their business I suppose. Everything points to making it hard to draw all super as lump sum. To my mind that makes the CGF product and business very valuable.
