I would say you hit it on the head when you said "Some could even say, they shot themselves in the foot, trying to play sneaky buggers". Why else won't you come to the table to negotiate if it is a stroke of the pen mistake? An i that wasn't dotted or t wasn't crossed? Not turning up at the request of the host country is just on.
FAR was willing to talk and waited until the Senegal gov't got tired of it. As CN said by then, something to the effect that time for talking has probably gone.
