According to Solagran he holds ‘doctoral qualifications in both organic chemistry and biochemistry, and was a registered medical practitioner in Russia. He first came to Australia in 1990 to work with the CSIRO Division of Forest Products as part of an inter-governmental scientific exchange program. He has published over 60 scientific papers in Russia and internationally and holds a number of patents’.

In 1998 Vagif was the senior author of a paper titled -

“Instant Kirlian diagnostic system (IKiDs). A unique form of diagnosis”

And from the abstract:

This paper introduces a unique diagnostic tool, the Instant Kirlian Diagnostic System (IKiDS) which derives from the work of the Kirlians of Russia in 1939. It delineates both the disease process and its energetic precursors in the human energy field, allowing for treatment and lifestyle changes before real damage occurs. IKiDS utilises a sensor, high voltage electronics and computer software to “capture” an energy discharge from the fingertips which contains valuable diagnostic information. The research summary is based on analysis of over 1000 sets of prints. Whilst some diagnostic puzzles remain, it is clear that IKiDS has impressive diagnostic and evaluative capabilities. Furthermore, it is accurate, user friendly and offers a complete picture of the physical, mental and emotional condition in “real time”.

The word Kirlian rang a bell.

... the story goes back to Russia.

In 1939, the Kirlians, a husband and wife team, invented a form of photography. They later claimed to have produced images of the aura of living things, a life force. So, perhaps the choice of the name Aura in Vagif’s naturopathic clinic was not just a New Age allusion, but a reference to his interest and research into Kirlian diagnostics.

But 2008, and Vagif seems to have left auras and diets behind.

A pity really - would really like to see Kirlian photos of Leo Khouri and associates taken at the time Opes Prime went belly up. His life force would have been an interesting shade at that time - maybe still is.

*Co-founder is a Denis Kilroy, who manages a consultancy firm. In March 2005, Today Tonight aired a story on former St Kilda coach, Grant Thomas, and his battle with weight problems. He was able to shed 22 kilograms, and gave credit to Vagif Soultanov, described then as a Russian naturopath living in Australia. According to the report :

‘Dr Soultanov believes his system could help people to lose weight with proper control and understanding. He added, however, that achieving weight-loss was not the reason behind the diet.”It’s a side-effect to my fasting and fluid diet, which I have used to treat all sorts of ailments from eczema to cancer,” Dr Soultanov said’.

The same story notes :

‘Denis Kilroy said he used Dr Soultanov’s diet to treat a heart condition, while his wife Fiona and their two children used it for chronic eczema’.

That’s presumably where the paths of Solagran’s co-founders crossed.

Those who wished more information were directed to the Aura Body Clinic in South Melbourne - which is still there, although obviously Vagif has now moved on to bigger things.
