Was at the TZN AGM today and asked a question re the Angas Mine
The committee led by Dean Brown is currently looking at environmental concerns of some residents. This Committee does not thave the power to veto the project................ but reports to Govt its findings. Once the Govt is satisfied that these concerns have been addressed, then a mining lease is granted. TZN hopes that this will be completed end of June (as per govt indications) However it must be pointed out that TZN are not giving any clear indication cos they have been let down in the past with time frames.
After the mining lease has been approved, it then goes to the Dept of Primary Industries for final approval of everything. This could be expected to take another month , so absolute final approval is not expected until Aug sometime. However this final approval by Primary Ind. could take longer than a month.
There are also other routes that TZN could then take in the event that further problems occur along the way . As an example, Roxby Downs operates within a completely original piece of legislation that was introduced into the SA state parliment specifically for that project.
Management are confident that the approval will come but the the exact timing and date......................?
