The unions have now given their previously controlled Labor MPs freedom in a prospective leadership vote.
They still "back" Gillard but it seems her support is falling. Rudd supporters are calling on him to challenge next week despite his constant vows not to do so.
By waiting until next Friday, it shows how cowardly he is. He will avoid a grilling by the opposition in parliament and not have to put up any policies.
