Is this the same John Howard that only 2 years earlier had said the GST is dead an buried? Why isn't anyone calling him a liar and a deciever?
He decided to put the GST policy forward in 1998, when he had a 48 seat majority. He knew he couldn't lose the election. Remember the voting stood at 51.5% Labor, 48.5% coalition at that election. I would say that meant the majority of people voted against it. Labor won back more than 20 seats at that election.
All you Liberal supporters need to take off your rose coloured glasses and look at the facts. A Prime Minister in Howard that did more backflips and said more lies than any other Prime Minister in history. A deputy to Howard (costello) who was too scared to actually run for an election against Rudd, he wanted Howard to hand him the Prime Ministership instead.
Come on people. I thought we were Aussies. I thought we gave everyone a fair go. For the record, I don't vote Labor and I don't believe in some of their policies, however is Julia Gillard that much different to John Howard who a lot of you still idolise.
