yes there is an issue with alcohol abuse,but I don't recall too many cases of peoples homes being broken into for the price of a stubby of VB or aids being spread by sharing a bottle of cider. drug use in the form of heroin and meth will bring society as we know it down unless we take severe steps to stop or at very least slow it down, this particular event will ,in most peoples minds slow down if not prevent any Aussie attempting the same therefore its a win for society
Indonesia has a serious issue with drug smuggling and as a sovereign state they have every right to make laws and enact punishment as they see fit, just like our great ally and best mate the US, strange how no ones asking us not to visit there or cut off trade links with the largest executioner of all China our number one trade partner,
so where's all the belly aching with those two ? why do we roll out the red carpet for Obama and let him speak in our parliament if we are all so indignant over the issue. truth is we are not and the pollies know when to go with the flow to pick up a stray vote or two
