Without want to sound alarmist, a possible risk here is that if BHP does not want to contest a takeover, or if it has been effectively muscled out by the inco/hrr JV agreement, its stake may come to be seen as a large parcel of shares that could potentially be dumped into the market. BHP is currently sitting on nice little paper profit on a pure investment basis.
