Yes I know you find it hard to believe that I would do such a dramatic thing. I have direct knowledge of the cost of mining at this time. Commodities eased, employment cost havnt.
Olympic dam is symbolic, though that mine could be mined in hard times aswell. Its one of the highest grade mines in Australia. 80% of the mines don’t have that luxury.
The carbon tax is just one of many. Try employment. Average truck driver is on 125k a year, Africa 5k a year, brazil 25k a year. When commodities drop these costs remain.
There is no way in hell that Oakjee will get off the ground without state assistance. Commodity shock will happen next year and W.A will be hit unless there is a substantial change in world climate.
One thing I do agree with you, the Carbon tax is a disgrace. Change in government will increase business sendiment, the whole reason why mining companies come here in the first place.
