Blackrock invested in MML because that company is a (currently) profitable miner building BlackRocks gold book assets.

Its not that Blackrock is not investing in gold but it seems that its taken a more focussed position on the mid ranked producers rather than speculative investing.

This is currently in keeping with most of the funds out of the UK and you don't need to be related to Albert Einstien to understand why, the trend has been in front of us for two years.

Its not that BR "probably" saw better value in MML, its as obviouse as a rams balls in a field full of mallee roots that a producing mid ranked gold miner with 8-10 gpt dirt will remain in BR books.

The question "why did BR increase its holding in MML is", in that context, specious.
