Lots of traders made money on SIR. In fact, judging by the charts, traders probably made more money overall than long termers.

If you're still here you probably DIDN'T make millions on SIR. The problem with FA is that it's time consuming. With TA I can scan the entire ASX in 5 minutes and do basic research in an hour.

I've got no problem with FA or buy and hold. I've got no problem with riding out short term fluctuations for long term gains. But if you say that "the market is never right it is based on greed and fear" then all the TA people will say "yes exactly".

Also I know Buffett promotes this homespun buy and hold technique but if you read about him you'll find that as well as that he has frequently used a whole lot of sophisticated techniques not available to the average punter. Buffett likes to push the "I'm a simple man it's all just common sense" but there are a lot of simple people out there with common sense who aren't as rich as he is.
