IMO assuming that future govt's (5-10 years out) are going to fair or reasonable about how super is treated is unrealistic. To me it is quite clear that super will become part of the govt's fiscal strategy in order to close the gap between revenue and expenditure. Trying to analyse how they are going to o this is a waste of time but one thing is certain we'll be surprised to the extent they will go to. My gut feeling tells me that super in industry funds is already seen (by gov't) as de-facto government funds to be plundered when the circumstances call for it, it's just the how to sell it to us that's the sticking point, but they will as we are a very content mob who will swallow all the propaganda and spin.
