Why should we be ashamed of what happened more than 200 years ago? Why should we not celebrate the creation of modern Australia? The things that happened to the Aboriginals are not nice, but that was the way things were back then, it happened to most indigenous tribes taken over by the poms/spanish/whoever.
I'll happily celebrate Australia day. Maybe instead of killing of Australia day we should add an extra public holiday and call is Indigenous day or something to celebrate their heritage and contribution to what we now call Australia?
