Sydney medical student Zeynab Alshelh, 23, travelled to France with Channel Seven’s Sunday Night program to protest a decision by 30 French cities to ban women from wearing the full-length swimsuits at public beaches after the Nice terror attack in July.

“I just in all honesty thought [the ban] was ridiculous,” she said.
“It just doesn’t make sense to me. There’s no connection at all between the burkini and these terrorist attacks.”
But the French public seem to disagree. No sooner had Alshelh and her family sat down than they were confronted, told to leave the beach or face the consequences.
Another woman gestured to the camera, pointing at the family and giving the thumbs down.
Alshelh’s visit comes at a time of great division in France, where the ruling Socialist Party has been attacked as being weak on terrorism.
