The project was a demonstration project only, it was never intended to be commercial.

The purpose was to develop and demonstrate R & D, which is supported by the ATO in rebating 45% of costs. Had the company retained the installed array as a commercial enterprise. They would not have been able to claim the rebate. In effect they had to write off the Ceto 5s to qualify.

Last year CWE was refunded $12 million. That money is sitting in their account, available for future technology developments and perhaps acquisitions, strategic alliances, etc?
