That is the worst excuse for a non-performing ROAM-e yet. Demonstrating what the drone can do won't expose them to any risk of losing their IP, it isn't what it does, but how it does it that is the subject of the patents. They've already told us what it will do, and have been dropping potential uses off the list since last year. However, the video shows no evidence of what it can do, apart from flying. There's no valuable IP in taking photos from a drone, or hovering, or replaceable batteries. The trick to its success, judging by the problems experienced by Lily and Sprite, is flight control, which is purely a software/firmware issue and not at risk of having any IP nobbled by a demo of ROAM-e's capabilities.
There hasn't been any mention of collision avoidance capability recently. Now that they've said that two sets of blades will be provided with the ROAM-e, can we take it that collisions are a probability rather than an impossibility?
Indicative orders are what people like their agents think they could be able to sell. Pre-orders are paid for contracts to purchase. Completely different. 440,000 pre-orders would be really good for the cash flow! It's obviously quite a fluid figure, ranging from 250,000 to 440,000.
And, what is so good about facial recognition anyway? Sure, it sounds cool and hi-tech, but why not have it tethered to a phone instead? That way you can pass the phone around to friends so that different people can be the focus of the shots, and if you turn away from the drone it won't lose contact when it can't see your face.
