What good is the union now to the 220 odd people out of work? You would think that there would have been "union" discussions along the way to assist and work with the employer to keep the factory open. It appears not, as there is no mention, only at the 11th hour is the union getting involved.

We well know the cost of an employee is far less offshore...we are apart of Asia. (Australasia) lets face it. Unless the unions realise that they will only assist putting the nail in every manufacturers coffin unless they get off their high horses and realise they need to work to keep their members jobs, not push for constant wage increases.

It is well documented that the trade unions were very instrumental in the closure of the Toyota factory in SA...they were not going to sit at the negotiating table to work on a compromise...not on your nelly...their members always deserved better, even if it was the dole!

"CONSTRUCTION on the Cowboys home-ground stadium was held up for four days because of a CFMMEU strike over an enterprise agreement, despite workers being offered more pay."

I bet they are all on a very grand package anyway, way above anybody else as it is a Labor State Government job...and so it goes on in the parallel universe inhabited by trade union flunkies.

It is not only the wages that are lower overseas -- the high government fees/taxes/red tape and inability to function are major factors causing the flow of business operations to Asia
