I think you are referring to company's that don't make money in this statement. "retailers get caught with their pants down"
Even shares still held in a profitable company that pays dividends like CI1 are valuable and should become even more valuable once privatized, if that is the plan. They will probably buy back shares out of profits if they can.
If a takeover is the plan and this occurs the price offers will be greater than the SP is now. I have seen 2-3 times the current SP offered on other company's. We will see I guess.
