Sydney - Tuesday - December 9: (RWE) - Giants Reef Mining Ltd
today announced that it had temporarily closed the underground mine at
Chariot yesterday afternoon as a result of a subsidence appearing in the
floor of the previously-mined open pit.
Giants Reef said the subsidence propagated to an open stable
void.
The company said immediate production at the Warrego mill should
not be impacted by this as there was more than 9500 tonnes of ore on the
mine and mill stockpiles.
Current mill throughput is averaging 2300 tonnes per week and
the resultant void will be backfilled with clean rock and/or cement
fill, which can be drawn from the surrounding area.
Giants Reef said forward gold delivery commitments had been met
for November and December commitments scheduled for delivery at
month-end were fully met on December 8.
Shares in Giants Reef Mining last traded at 8.3c.
