We all live by different market rules and different life rules…
Be that as investors, traders…whatever…and interestingly, the market needs all types to function.
This is a pretty simple situation…but one some clearly have trouble comprehending.
So why do some people feel their way, or their view, is the only one?
I fear some posters have very shallow views of the market…and of other posters…and tend to live in a kind self rationalised “I am the centre of the universe” teenage view of themselves.
The sad result is for an obvious distain for all other posters…fuelled in all reality by an underlying lack of self esteem, or adolescent need to find their place in the world?
What I have seen on these threads recently has made me sick...seriously...the degree of integrity shown, or lack thereof is quite disturbing…and I sincerely ask those contributing the most to such behavior, (you know who you are), how you would feel if you family (your kids) saw what you were posting?
I tend to think the general level of debauchery and lack of social respect shown recently, is nothing more than a reflection of the rather sad and insignificant real lives of some, where they perhaps lack the capacity to control their immediate environs (lack power)...and in some sad kind of way, get to live out a consolation “fantasy” life here from behind the anonymity of their nics.
I sincerely hope these people are not really like this in real life, because if so, I think most would agree it would make them socially very ugly…and in desperate need of help.
And…if they are not like this in real life…why are they like this here?
Some self reflection required perhaps?
Anyway…apart for the mandatory retrospective "experts" that always magically appear at such times, one must really question the apparent desire by certain people to want to rub salt into the wounds of fellow posters, who may well have lost money...real money...not the fantasy school-project type!
They may not care, may have a longer view, or may simply be working to a different program to others…after all, the majority of shareholders in the vast majority of stock are long-term “investors” who effectively support the company through thick and thin…it appears to me most who crow on about share price moves are no more than temporary holders.
How dare people like this take it upon themselves to chastise genuine investors?
By the way…nothing wrong with temporary money…at least half of my portfolio is based on temporary money…but I would not dream of berating long-term holders if I should happen to trade “their” stock during periods of volatility?
I have to ask…what is the mindset here, I mean really, look inside, be honest with yourself…and ask what is motivating you to behave as you do? What possible satisfaction could anyone get from deriding others about losing money...same goes the other way mind you, who would continuously gloat over profits?
To be honest however, I think most would be forgiven for the odd post in celebration of a big win.
But seriously…are we not all here for the same reasons more or less; companionship, interaction, information sharing...and ultimately, to collectively help each other make money from the markets?
The cowardly and less than generous ranting of some of those on the threads of late would appear to be anything but…what ever happened to charity, decency and integrity?
Cheers!
