Why refer to anyone as "scum". Such language is rarely if ever used by respectable people IMO. IMO, its is always best to try to understand others with whom we have differing opinions because, unlike the Pope, no reasonable person ever claims infallibility!
As Aussies we should be aware of Chinese history over te past 200 years and how ordinary Chinese have suffered under colonial regimes (including that of Britian of which, we too were "colonials)
Just have a read of the Opium Wars and the consequent formation of Hong Kong and the subsequent allocation of Japanese jurisdiction over a big chunk of China post WW1.
But of course, to respect others we first have to understand them.
