I'm not sure the state of the parliament has anything to do with the sharemarket. Hasn't stopped several large takeover offers - though they are probably bargain hunting.
More likely the uncertainty about the US debt ceiling, and PIGS.
Once those issues are resolved, I believe the market will rally.
