I agree with a lot of that. My generic point was that depression is often painted as a disease that attacks victims at random with the sufferer powerless against the affliction. That can be the case....but it isn't always.

The impression I have is that most cases of severe depression are in people who have a family history of the disorder and or the person has recurring episodes.
Comments of people being calm before suicides. I think suicidal people are agitated about their problems and how to solve them, once they decide to die they become calm and relaxed. Suicide is an effective solution to their perceived problems, quick and fool proof.
