Contracting Bollinger bands warn of upcoming volatility and a new trend.
The negative divergence I mentioned here was suggesting overbought though.
FWIW the chart below shows the last weekly Slow Stochastic negative divergence which occurred in '06.
It resulted in volatility, Bollinger band contractions & a decent trend - no guarantees this time 'round though...
