All got their own state all think theirs is betterr
And it's not just health which is ludicrous imho.
Take a look at police. Each state runs their own state policing system, NSW is different to Qld different to afp etc it's mind boggling. What's worse in police they also need to link up to systems like ACID running by NCID to share that data out to other states and it's a shift fight.

health is no different. DoD is totally disconnected from the federal.and state health. It's an excellent use case to win other country level defence; like NZ and UK given the 5 eyes.

Vic health different again. Every state trying to one up the other saying they are better all buying different it systems thinking their way is better. Total waste of public spending very inefficient.
Compare that to say if all the state's got together and said right; we want one uniform health platform that can be used by all states and we want best bang for buck coming to you with 22 million patients give us best price vs each state doing their own thing.
As an example act health pays more per state citizen for all their it systems than new or Vic pay simply because they are smaller and the vendors say they offer less discount...
