    But doesn't a company first request a trading halt to the ASX before it publishes information like they did.

    My understanding is that if the company submits an announcement and the ASX has questions or want clarification, then the company will go into trading halt until the ASX are satisfied. This is to prevent leaks and/or insider trading.
