Regarding the origins of SARS2, there is not a lot reported in Australia about the things we do know. I have always found this quite interesting as there is some historical information that is on the public record that is quite relevant, some of which I read early last year.
Only two weeks ago in the weekend Australian was the first reference that I've seen to date about when the Wuhan Institute of Virology scientists returned from a visit to an abondoned mine where six local farmers had become mysteriously ill in 2013 after gathering guano, and some of these had died. The story goes that the WIV has worked on a a lethal corona virus since, and probably performing gain of function research with it. The New York Times also did a major article on this recently after the iisue has been forced to reveal more when the merits of the WHO investigation did not satisfy US intelligence information. Even the invincible Dr. Fauci has been drawn into the debate for much earlier pre-pandemic comments he had made about the importance gain of function research. The Lab-Leak Theory.
It needs to be said straight up that the reason why much of the lab leak theory has never gained real traction, and to put it in my own words,
the genome does not lie, or without any riddle, most scientists have dismissed any human tweaking of the virus. You'll recall on these pages from March last year, when we discussed the research paper by Indian scientists who stated that it was 'uncanny' that the 'four HIV-like proteins' within the virus could 'occur naturally.' This research was quickly dismissed by the remainder of the global scientific community. There hasn't been any credible research since that has provided insights that promotes the idea of
assisted evolution, and the result has left the wet market origin theory mostly intact.
But the nagging idea that an accidental release of the virus from the WIV won't go away, and one reason is because of its very close proximity to the infamous wet market; 14.5 km. Here is an article that lays out the various arguments simply
