With my CFD broker, to open a $100,000 position in BHP, the margin is 3%. Hence, I put up $3,000 and pay interest on the full $100,000.
To open a $100,000 position in BMN, the margin is 85% with my CFD broker. Hence, in this case I need to put up $85,000 and pay interest on the full $100,000.
Hence, on stocks that require a high margin, imo its not really worth going long via CFDs. Perhaps I am missing something, as the CFD broker offers CFDs on lots of stocks that require a very high margin.
