I'm also finding the banks movements at the moment surprising, particularly WBC - new all time high set the day after Wall Street had a near 2 % fall. this seems strange to me. Do the banks not also have many of their wealth managment investments tied up in overseas markets? This should have an impact too.
While the buying side is not overly strong ie low volumes etc, there does not seem to be any inclination of holders to sell in the face of the surrounding events. nearly every day lately we have this gradual intraday rise after the initial sell off. Is this normal?
