Mining in Australia is a tough business. Although there are a few exceptions, the Aussie mining scene is not an industry that is known for being gentle or kind to women, gay people or to people who look different.

Tony Gu is a twentysomething guy who happens to be incredibly smart. He is backed by Emmanuel Datt, a thirtysomething self-made millionaire. Both Datt and Gu happen to be Asian. They stand out.

I am pretty certain that nobody at KNB threw stones at or were abusive to the Gu/Datt duo. More likely, they were treated very coldly by the KNB team, who were unhappy at being called out for over-rewarding themselves.

So the Datt/Gu team walked away.

Why would anyone want to invest in a company where one is not welcome?

Datt Capital has made some modest profits from their KNB trades and will no doubt try their luck elsewhere.
