Brokerage/commission interchangeable.
There are ASX fees on every single trade but they are minimal, something like 0.5bps. That is more to cover the cost of "running the exchange" (and to regulate) but no it's not necessarily in their and ASICs interest to ban high-frequency trading.
It will never go away and given how illiquid MSB is at present it will continue to plague us. Find a low cost broker or CFD provider and day trade it or spruik it to your mates so there's too many buyers!
