Shorting is one thing but manipulating the price down for the purposes of a takeover is totally illegal and despite all the conspiracy theories, it does not happen. Garggs , do you care to name a company where this has actually happened, and offer proof ? Unfortunately, the very act of shorting manipulates the price down and should not be legal , but those well known cowboys that run the ASX just don't get it.
