When i was talking about drift ,i was meaning the drift in stochastic equation at constant volatility as simple model.
So the MA 200 in graph is a line slowly increasing .. this is like the drift,
The shorter the time frame say MA10 then the more random events play a part .
When i say random i mean events that cannot be reasonably predicted, like someone sells shares because they need to pay for an operation, or the buy shares as they came into a inheritance etc, or some bot went a haywire.
That is my basic understanding and interpretation of drift and random fluctuations.
I also read somewhere that when volatility increases in frequency, a turn is about to occur..this has been used to predict market crash or stock crashes or an earthquake's in the past with a increase in frequency of tremors suggesting a large quack is on its way.
Don't know if it still works for the market, as the market tends to absorb any new predictive algorithms fairly quickly.
