Not sure if some one has mentioned this before, seasonality could be one of the reasons for the recent price drop. Have a look at the chart on the following link.

It appears from 10 years of historical price data plotted against each month of the year that the SP has always been the lowest in the month of May. Good news is that SP has been historically high in the month of June. Cheer up people.
