    Nice to see you back birdchirp and I am sure there were plenty here yesterday -of all genders and ages - who DID make that statement!

    And @hicks58 as I am no wine buff, the Hentley, as suggested by@josh182 is most likely the connoisseur choice?
    (I am a one company connoisseur only!)
    ... but like Kalleske because it is biodynamic as well as for the taste.

    And as far as those $10 a bottle Grange goes, I was so intrigued I looked up the history last night;
    [Langton’s Grange history]
    Penfolds Grange release prices
    • The inaugural and experimental 1951 Grange was mostly given away
    • The 1952 vintage, the first commercial release, was sold for around 15 shillings ($1.50)
    • Records show the 1953 vintage was sold for 17 shillings 6d ($1.75) and that price almost certainly held for the 1954, 1955 and 1956 vintages
    • The “secret” Granges of 1957, 1958 and 1959 were also mostly given away, but the 1959 was released commercially, again at around $1.50 to $1.75
    Records are scarce and there is no reliable source for release prices from 1963 to 1972. Occasionally, bottles come through auction with original price stickers. For example, the 1971 vintage was sold for $11.90 at release but was also discounted to under $10 a bottle. Grange prices increased with inflation and firmed, resisting discounting, as the label became better established.
    A strengthening fine wine market, boosted by the first wave of boutique Australian wineries, saw Grange prices evolve rapidly during the late 1980s. In 1987, Penfolds released the 1982 at more than $50 per bottle, something of a milestone and a quantum leap from the year before. The release price climbed towards $100 as the mid and late ’80s vintages were released.

    Your $10 bottles in 1977 would cost $42.31 a bottle today based on inflation alone
    (https://www.in2013dollars.com/us/inflation/1977?amount=10)
    .....And those 1952 bottles at 15 shillings each would, last year, have cost $28.19 each (https://www.rba.gov.au/calculator/annualPreDecimal.html)
